What does this barcode checker validate?

What does the barcode validator check?

It checks supported barcode values for the expected length, character set, and check digit where the format uses one. It does not verify ownership, assignment, or product information.

Can I validate a UPC-A or EAN-13 check digit?

Yes. Enter the complete 12-digit UPC-A or 13-digit EAN-13 value and BarcodeYard calculates and checks the final digit.

Does a valid barcode number mean the product is registered?

No. Structural validation only checks whether the value is correctly formed. It does not prove that a GTIN has been assigned to a product or that it exists in a retailer or GS1 database.
