Free QR Code Scanner Online

Scan a QR code with your camera or upload a QR code image. On compatible browsers, detection happens locally in your browser.

Camera and image scanning run locally in your browser. No barcode or QR image is uploaded to BarcodeYard for detection.

Scanning happens in your browser using a local multi-format decoder. BarcodeYard does not need to upload the camera image to a server for detection.

Scan a QR code without installing a separate scanner

Use the camera scanner when you are looking at a physical QR code, or upload a screenshot/photo when the QR code is already on your device. The scanner returns the decoded value so you can copy it and open it yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Can I scan a QR code without installing an app?

Yes. On a compatible browser, BarcodeYard can use the browser's built-in Barcode Detection API to scan a QR code from your camera or an uploaded image.

Can I scan a QR code from a picture?

Yes. Choose the image-upload option and select a clear image containing the QR code. Detection is performed in the browser on supported devices.

Does the QR scanner upload my image?

No. BarcodeYard performs QR detection in your browser and does not need to upload the camera frame or image for detection.

Why is my QR code not scanning?

Try a clear, sharp image with good contrast and enough surrounding white space. If camera scanning is unavailable, try a recent Chrome or Edge browser or upload the QR image instead.
